Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service issue Enforcement Notices.

To date the NIFRS have issued a number of enforcement notices; see www.nifrs.org/firesafe/register.php

The N. I. Fire & Rescue Service states that they play a key role in educating, informing and enforcing the Fire Regulations. Its role is to audit premises by targeted inspections, following a complaint or after a fire, where poor fire safety management is discovered.

NIFRS will provide practical advice or, if the risk is serious, issue an enforcement notice. Where failure to comply with fire safety duties has put people at risk of serious injury or death, consideration will be given to prosecution.
